Mercabarna opens its gates to all those working in the food trade, public bodies, students and the public at large, from all round the world, who are interested in finding out about its operations first-hand.

Professionals from the agrofood sector (representatives of government bodies, producers, managers of other markets around the world, etc.), who want to learn more about the Central Markets and other operational aspects of the food estate.

Programme

  • Explanation of Mercabarna with the aid of a model of the complex.
  • Screening of the video "Mercabarna, much more than a market".
  • Guided tour of the Central Markets and Complementary Activities Zone (ZAC) 

Visits for hospitality schools and agrofood students

Students training to work in the agrofood sector (hospitality, students in their final year of high school and university students) who want to learn more about the operation of Central Markets and the companies located in the food estate.

Number of people per group

  • Central Fruit and Vegetable Market: 20 people.
  • Mercabarna-flor: 30 people.
  • Central Fish Market: 15 people.

Programme

  • Explanation of Mercabarna with the aid of a model of the complex.
  • Screening of the video "Mercabarna, much more than a market", or "Mercabarna, an expansion to your kitchen" in the case of hospitality schools.
  • Visit to one of the Mercabarna Central Markets.

Duration of the visit

Approximately 90 minutes.

Days and times of the visit

  • Central Fruit and Vegetable Market: Monday to Friday, 11:00 am.
  • Central Fish Market: Wednesday and Thursday, 6:00 am.
  • Mercabarna-flor: Tuesday and Thursday, 7:00 am.

Dates will be determined by the availability of the Mercabarna managers.
