For a smoke-free zone
The Central Markets and companies in Mercabarna have been non-smoking areas since the Law regulating the consumption and sale of tobacco in Spain came into force on 1 January 2006.
The revenue obtained from fines given to the (ever fewer) people who fail to respect this law is donated to various NGOs by Mercabarna management. In 2006 Mercabarna gave €4.000 to Intermon Oxfam.
