The Central Flower Market

The Central Flower Market moved to Mercabarna on 7 April 1984. It had previously been located in the Carrer Lleida in Barcelona in premises now occupied by the Teatre Lliure. The Central Flower Market is the heir to a long commercial tradition of florists which commenced at the beginning of the 20th century in the Ramblas in Barcelona.

More than 60 companies operate at the Central Flower Market, which covers an area of 30,000 square metres. The Market moves almost 30 million units of cut flowers per year and, in addition, it moves a large volume of plants, dried flowers, greens and complementary items.

It has greenhouses and cold storage facilities and in December it holds the Christmas Tree Market.

On October 2008 has been inaugurated the new flower market, Mercabarna-flor. (More info)
